My Friend

Love her to death
My friend is a silent killer
Her fingers go tap tap tap
On her shiny black screen
She’s talking to Swifties
On Elon’s app
I don’t know if she sees me
Across this comfy couch of her’s
There are times I have felt like
A different species

Love her to pieces
My friend keeps to herself
Isolation is her cure all
She is her own snake oil salesman
Making it known through
Gaps in communication
Hour long pauses
Days go by—I forget to reach out

Love her for gods sake
My friend is a girl
She reminds me of a younger self
I believe I once had and ignored
Watching gossip girl
Arrested development isn’t so sweet
I’m not sure how to tell her
She’s breaking promises
She never made
