My body time travels
It knows the things I’d rather forget
Reaching into my bag for my keys
My hands shake
A choice of drink
A sound--a noise
A room that is too bright
White
Their hand on my thigh
Something in the eyes
Looking right through me
My stomach is a pit
Choosing a TV show
Walking alone
Showing a friend a song I love
Driving on a cold night in February
Putting away the dishes
The slick greasy plastic bits
Tumble down, tumble down
I wish I wasn't such a disappointment
Sometimes the simplest things
That can be gut-wrenching
Resilience doesn’t always look like a suit of armour
Sometimes it looks like buying groceries
